Miss Saigon, epic love story, takes to the stage at the Arts Centre Gold Coast this month, performing 12 – 20 June, 2015. This musical is over a quarter of a century old, first opened in 1989 amid controversy, has since been translated into 15 different languages and produced in over 300 cities around the world. A modern day Romeo & Juliet, Miss Saigon serves up an offering of forbidden love and tragic consequences. [BREAk]Set in the 70's in Vietnam, it tells the tale of young bar girl, Kim, and the American GI she falls in love with, during the fall of Saigon. The American soldier pledges his love but ultimately leaves. There's family disgrace, a love child, arranged fiancé and a shantytown existence. Meanwhile, back in America, Chris, the GI, has a new life and a wife. However, Chris and Kim are destined to meet again. Every good epic stage production needs a dramatic climax and Miss Saigon certainly offers this. Treat yourself to tickets if you want to know how the ending plays out and who will get to live the American dream. This tragic tale was inspired by Puccini's opera, Madame Butterfly and comes from the creators of Les Miserables.
