There's something magical about New Years Eve. It's a night where you think back on the year it has been, and imagine all the great things to come for the year ahead. There's a lot of hope in this one evening. It's like you feel you have this clean slate. Everything starts tomorrow, and life's going to be great.
And amongst all that soppy stuff of course is the excuse to have a darn good party up with all the best people you know. You try your best to make it the best night of the year, because it's your last chance. And more often than not, your New Years Eve turns out to be an evening of endless stories and memories. A night you'll never forget.
Open to ladies all around Australia, the aim of this competition is to find the perfect girl to take over the title, and fulfill the duties asked of her. And what easy and wonderful duties they are. The kind you could, and would be happy to do with your hands tied behind your back. Okay maybe just one, you'll need one hand to hold a champagne, shake hands with new friends and wave like royalty. Because that's what you'll feel like.
The winner of Miss New Years Eve 2011 will receive.
Two nights accomodation on New Years Eve and New Years Day in Melbourne with a late check out. As well as that, you'll get to attend the best parties in Melbourne on the big night.
And that's just the beginning. There are more prizes to be announced in the coming weeks.
So what is it you need to do?
Firstly, head to the website here. You'll find all of the answers to any little questions, along with terms and conditions. As part of your entry, you will be asked to fill out a questionaire. Simple.
You will then be asked to upload up to three photos of yourself blowing a kiss. To me, this is more difficult than it sounds. My attempt at looking like I'm blowing a kiss just makes me look like I've turned in to part fish, part Mick Jagger.
You will then upload your photos, and let the judging begin. The judges will pick a bunch of finalists that they feel encompass all of the qualities Miss New Years Eve should hold.
Previous winners are also up on the website, so you can take a look at what the judges might be after this year.
The 2009 winner was Rebecca Simoni. You can check out her profile here. If she seems familiar, you might recognise her from the top 50 in Australian Idol in 2008.

In 2010, Rosalie Shaw took over the reigns. And this year, you could be taking over from Rosalie. You can check out her profile here.
