But first coffee
Venturing into Brisbane City on a lovely Queensland Winter's day found us discovering a new little cafe in New Farm. This cute little cafe is Miss Jones Cafe. We were enticed by the name. A simple name for a lovely simple cafe.
Miss Jones Cafe is located in the centre of New Farm along Brunswick Street and from the outside if passing, could easily be missed. The interior decor was bright, airy with a distinctive pastel feel.
As it was a Monday morning when we arrived (around 8.30am), it wasn't too busy so we were able to find a seat very easily, though the pedestrian traffic for takeaway coffee was fairly consistent throughout our time here.
The mug of coffee ($4.50) was quite a generous size and a lovely way to start our breakfast feast.
The menu resonated very much to my tastes. It had a number of healthy options and catered well for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free customers. They serve breakfast all day and lunch from 11.30am.
I couldn't go past the Green Breakfast for $17.50. My dish was beautifully presented and included spinach, broccolini, kale, tri-coloured quinoa, dukkah, roast pumpkin, halloumi and poached eggs. Looked good and tasted good.
My husband was immediately drawn to Lloyd's Breakfast ($22). He ordered this one initially on its name as this is our son's name. It was a decent size breakfast consisting of bacon, poached eggs, hash and cheddar waffle, spinach, onion jam, avocado and sourdough. I believe he was happy with his choice as the plate was clean at the end.
What you need to know - order at counter, it's open also for lunch and is the second cafe for owners, Hannah and Daniel Bowles. Their other cafe is Little Loco which is also in New Farm. This will be on our list to try the next time we are down this way. Parking is available in side streets as limited parking in Brunswick street during the week.
We were treated to a magnificent view of the Storey Bridge and Brisbane on our way back to our car. All in all, a great morning.
