Along with their display of Phryne Fisher costumes , Rippon Lea is also throwing a 1920's inspired tea dance.

This is a chance for you to show off a bit of panache and get into the spirit of all things 1920s.

While no-one is insisting you come dressed in 1920's attire it will certainly add to the occasion and you are bound to have a lot more fun.

So it might a good chance to look for that vintage frock. Loose flapper dresses were popular as well as garters teemed with small heeled shoes, art deco jewellery, cloche hats and bobbed hair. What fun to get dressed up in these items!

Gentlemen would attire themselves in a long sleeved dress shirt with bow tie or ascot, classic slacks, a sports jacket or perhas even a suit and lace up oxfords.

The will feature afternoon tea including finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, as well as pastries and cakes an tea infusions from Tea Tonic.

There will also be a five piece band to accompany your antics on the dance floor. We can only hope they will play the Charleston for you.

Rippon Lea is of course the perfect venue as it is a stunning period mansion, just the kind of place where Phryne Fisher would have kicked up her heels.

You can book tickets here .
