Event:
From Facebook Phyrne Fisher series by Kerry Greenwood

Most people now know the inimitable Miss Phryne Fisher. Even if you are not a reader you will have possibly caught the television series with the highly fashionable, highly charged, sometimes quite outrageous Phryne.

Here is your chance to meet the creator -- Kerry Greenwood. She will be giving a talk on her character and the fashions of the period.

Because let's face it, in a time when a lot of other women were darning their stockings and making Depression era outfits out of curtains, Phryne.is a fashion goddess in silk gown and daytime ensembles to make anyone interested in fashion drool.

It was the era when wealthy women changed four or five times a day. They would even get dressed for afternoon tea, or to go out in the automobile and their evening dresses were to die for.

As an historical novelist Greenwood certainly knows the 1920s inside out and she always describes Phryne's outfits in such glorious detail.

As well as discussing fashion of the era Greenwood will also be chatting about her latest (20th) Phryne Fisher novel, Murder and Mendelssohn.

The talk will be held over Phryne Fisher's preferred afternoon tea which will include finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, a selection of pastries and cakes, and a variety of tea infusions

This event is at the stately National Trust mansion Rippon Lea which in the series is the home of Aunt Prudence.

The talk also coincides with the Miss Fishers Costume Exhibition which is being held there. With 30 outfits worn by the lead cast on display.

The event, which combiners history, literature, fashion and afternoon tea, will be hosted in Rippon Lea's magnificent Ballroom -- how very Phryne Fisher.
