At the point where I was watching a grown man crawl into a large cardboard box covered in alfoil, I wondered what I was doing with my Tuesday night. But all I could do was laugh.
Adelaide performer Robbie Greenwell, together with Cheryl Chin, has created quite an absurd show that delves into how we view ourselves and the different personas we have within us. The promo blurb references the Sylvia Plath poem of the same name being the inspiration, but don't let that sombre thought put you off.
Robbie is hilarious and intriguing as he acts out 5 characters; a conference presenter, a child, an old man, a man embodying a pigeon and a man who can walk very well in a pair of stilettos.
This show was innovative and entertaining and quite frankly a little bit bonkers. It is showing for only 3 nights at the Aperitif Bar, Ibis Hotel for Adelaide Fringe (until Thursday March 16th) but I feel this isn't the last we'll see of Robbie or Mirror. Get along to see it if you get the opportunity.
