Mirang Avenue is home to some beautiful gardens and flowers. Particularly attractive was a pink-toned rose. It was complemented by several red roses.

The avenue runs for about 700 metres, starting from Dorset Road.

Many agapanthus were starting to bloom with white ones not as common as the blue variety. Iris flowers never fail to impress.

It is always exciting to find flowers I have not seen before. Two on this walk were a Japanese spirea bush, native to Japan, China and Korea and the montbretia flower, a native of Africa.

Many picket fences were seen but no lychgates. I did see what I called a lych hedge, quite impressive.

Plenty of colourful daisies were growing in many gardens and a few bottlebrush trees brightened up nature strips.

Many flowers, flowering shrubs and trees are seasonal. Two which are starting to appear in gardens are society garlic flowers, and usually on nature strips, oleander trees.

Several walkers were seen but none with dogs, although I did see one dog who was walking solo.

Few birds were seen, just a magpie which flew from grass to fence and a couple of noisy miners, one of which was having a good scratch.

Part way along Mirang Avenue is a pathway to the large Dorset Recreation Reserve which has a walking track around the reserve and for a longer walk, there is a path around the adjacent Dorset Public Golf Course.

An interesting garden ornament was a wooden wishing well. An exterior light on a brick wall looked attractive.

Another garden ornament was a chook, chicks, gnome and a duck.

One front garden was home to many potted plants with a sign reading they were for sale.

Garden beds with different flowers and shrubs all close together give a nice overall effect.

A junior kangaroo paw and a junior aloe plant looked very healthy while a Peruvian lily looked very colourful.

It's an easy walk with footpaths both sides, so anyone wheelchair bound would find it easy going.
