A beloved figure of Australian screen culture is Miranda Tapsell - she's holding a virtual book launch of her memoir Top End Girl at 6.15pm on 14 May, 2020.
Miranda was born in Darwin and grew up in Kakadu National Park. She began performing at the age of seven. After finishing school, Miranda was accepted to study at NIDA fulltime and since graduating has built a stellar career on stage, screen, and television.
After a starring role in the world-renowned film The Sapphires, Miranda received two Logie Awards for her role in Love Child. Other credits include Play School, Doctor Doctor, Get Krack!n, Newton's Law,Cleverman and Wolf Creek.
She wrote, produced, and starred in the box office hit Top End Wedding, and has her own podcast on BuzzFeed, Pretty for an Aboriginal, with close friend Nakkiah Lui.
Top End Girl, is a thoughtful memoir chronicling the process of making Top End Wedding, and the stories and ideas that animate it. Miranda will be joined in conversation with Nakkiah, as they talk about her passion for storytelling, community, and culture.
