At times we may feel that life does not make sense, sadness and emptiness appear to be the only emotions as all hope seems to be lost and the questions of why is constantly blurted out. The film Miracles From Heaven portrays these emotions and feelings throughout the movie and as a viewer you begin to question your own faith.
This eye-opening and emotional movie is not just based on a divine intervention and a straight-from God miracle or a medical oddity, it also gives us acknowledgement of the miraculous nature of human kindness!
Miracles From Heaven is a film based on a true story of Anna Bream (Kylie Rogers) a little girl living with a rare, incurable disorder that leaves her unable to digest food and requires feeding tubes for nutrition. Her mother Christy (Jennifer Garner) never gives up trying to find out what is wrong with her daughter, being a devoted mother who searches for a way to save her daughter and also coping with the stress of financial and family woes.
The movie begins with a voiceover from Garner, where she questions where miracles come from and she explains a dictionary definition of the word "miracle", which then makes us question this word "miracle" in our heads.
As the film continues on we are taken into a journey of a world of emotions, from scenes of joy and slight laughter to complete sadness.
There are plenty of tearful monologues as well as mini-monologues from Garner: pleading with young and inexperienced doctors to help her daughter, and one where she questions her faith and finally about the miracles that surround us every day.
The film is filled with copiousness of emotions and the most touching, as well as, inspiring part of this film was when Christy thinks back and realises how many miracles the family experienced through the kindness and compassion of humanity.
As humans we tend to ask 'why' when life takes a turn with unfortunate events that seem out of our control and we start to lose trust, hope and faith. The movie portrays to us that when all things go bad in our lives, we should not lose faith whether it is in a higher power or in mankind, and faith within ourselves. We should not forget that in each day there is beauty and miracles all around us, this makes us appreciate each day and take the time to see beauty and all the little miracles around us.
The movie continues to show us the strength and love of mothers towards their children as well as the extent and depth that a parent will take to stop at nothing to see their child smile again.
