They dreamed it. They designed it. They painted it. He built furniture. She restored furniture. Now this bland box has blossomed into the brand new at Laurie Hall Park in Whangarei.

After all their hard work on the exterior and the interior, Jaz and Bryce (owner/operators) are serving up delicious flowers and gifts for you and your loved ones to enjoy. This young couple have chosen to invest their time and talent in Whangarei as they can see the potential this evolving city has to offer.

Jasmine spent her teenage years in Whangarei, attending Whangarei Intermediate and Whangarei Girls High. She has been a florist for 8 years between Auckland, Hawkes Bay and Northland. She cut her teeth in this industry, working part time at several different floral outlets in Auckland during her studies.

After graduating with her Bachelor of Visual Arts Degree, she went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in High School teaching. However, the lure of floristry kept her from pursuing a career in teaching. Jasmine's passion for working with flowers naturally progressed into her dream to own a flower shop. The idea of being self employed has been percolating for quite a few years and has now finally reached its fruition.

Jasmine also loves to restore old furniture. Several of her pieces have taken pride of place in the store.

Bryce grew up in Auckland. He has spent 8 years in the Sign Trade between Auckland and Sydney. He also has a passion for graphic art, doing large scale murals. He is the in-house courier, book-keeper, builder and sign-writer. He has found his journey into self employment a fulfilling and rewarding process.

Bryce also built all the purpose designed work-stations in the shop using old wooden pallets, old wooden doors, a few macrocarpa beams and spade-loads of talent. Jaz and Bryce designed each piece of this furniture with the floristry process in mind.

The outside of the building has an explosion of colour on every available space. The large scale flower mural was a collaboration of talent between Jasmine, Bryce and their friend Earnest Bradley (local artist and owner/operator of Memory Lane Tattoo Studio). All three artists, in their own right, gave this plain Jane building a paint make-over to be proud of. Locals and visitors alike have voiced their approval.

In contrast, the inside of the building is pure white with natural wood accents and a sealed concrete floor. This provides a clean canvas for the flowers and hand crafted goodness to shine.

A Floral Menu covering a range of colour-ways gives you the option to choose pre-designed bouquets with small, medium or large price points. If you prefer, you can choose your own flower combination and budget. The choice is yours.

You will also find a selection of beautiful NZ made and designed gifts including organic baby wear, soy candles and boutique chocolate. They also feature locally made Old Coach Road jewellery, Veganlicious cupcakes and an exclusive range of greeting cards by Berry Creative based right here in Whangarei.

The Reduce, Re-use, Recycle model is well under way at . This started with the furniture as mentioned above. Some of the other ways this is being achieved is by recycling/re-using their cardboard and paper, composting their green waste, wrapping the majority of their bouquets in paper rather than plastic and stocking only local and New Zealand grown flowers. They are always open to finding new ways to make this happen to a greater extent.

Next time you need a flower or gift solution; Mint floral will be there for you. If you are unable to visit the store, contact them by phone 09-430-3355 or email [email protected].
