Minnie Miny Mo is a fine stop just off Moorabbin Station. Formerly known as Sandwich Point, this cafe is presenting a fresh face on the corner of Station St.
While a good place to pop in if rushing along in the morning or afternoon (and more on this below) MMM is also a fine place to call by, sit and take in the surrounds. In particular, the cafe has a new outdoor seating area, and making use of it on a warm autumn afternoon can only be considered time well spent.
Looking out towards MMM's outdoor seating on Central Avenue...
Concerning the menu, MMM offers the foundation menu of a good local cafe - muesli, toast croissant and more - as well as a a few additional extras like Mediterranean omelets (three eggs, bacon, cheese, sauteed mushrooms, spinach, capsicum, Spanish onion and feta served with sourdough bread). In turn, alongside coffee, chai tea, milkshakes - and spiders (lemonade and icecream)! - are offered in-house.
Given its location, Just like Sushi Factory in Bentleigh or Son of Burch Cafe in Mckinnon, Minnie Miny Mo is well situated for a grabbing something to eat or drink whether arriving or departing from Moorabbin via the railway station.
With this, special mention should be made of the takeaway drinks. Perhaps as a nod MMM"s location, alongside sandwiches there is a good variety of canned and bottled drinks for sale. In particular, there are Italian sodas. For those yet to try a San Pellegrino they are well worth it offering familar flavours like Orange and Lemon, but with a more understated and long lasting taste than perhaps a Fanta or Solo.
For those yet to try a San Pellegrino, they are well worth it...
And, for those who've had a meal at MMM - or are just passing through but found they've a good while wait for a bus or train - why not head on down the road to Corner Lamp Books for a paperback, or even Grape and Grain to grab a drink.
All up, this cafe - alongside the complimenting attractions on surrounding blocks - represents a great new chapter for Moorabbin. For those keen to sit outdoors in the autumn sun and have a Chai while watching this all happen, Minnie Miny Mo is a good little place to do so.
Used to be my go to cafe, until I saw the cook clean a spoon by placing it in his mouth then wiping it on his apron and promptly dishing up food going out to an unsuspecting client.
Won't ever step foot in there again.
