You finally get a holiday. Labour Day Weekend has arrived. But you need something for your children to do so they do not go stir crazy and your fun weekend becomes stress weekend. I have just the thing to spark you and them up and get you out into the wooded bushland along the banks of Diamond Creek and breathing pure fresh air.

Leave the electronic device with pictures of things kids can do at home. Go live and live it up. So who doesn't love train rides, such as Puffing Billy? No one I know of.

Well, Miniature train rides are even more fun. And at only $3.00 per person. It is below affordable.

And just on that weekend, the Diamond Valley Miniature Railway line located at Eltham Lower Park, Main Road, Eltham, are having an twilight train ride as well. They are holding a special Community Day to raise funds for local community groups. And this is your chance to help out and give the kids the ride of their life. My kids adored this when they were little and so did I.

You are never too old for this.

Diamond Valley Train Conductors are running the trains solid for 12 hours from 11 am to 11 pm.

There will be sausage sizzles, foodie vans, or picnic tables if you want to bring your own stash of goodies. The CFA will be there selling glow sticks.

Diamond Valley Railway is celebrating over 54 years of service to the community and what a way to celebrate with them. This trip is just a quick jet out the Eastern Freeway and up Tram Rd. You may not even get a "Are we there yet?" from your tiny travelers. Too easy.

Please be aware, closed toe shoes must be worn to protect your tiny pink toes.

And if I remember correctly from when my girls were little, you can hold the best BIRTHDAY parties there. We had a wonderful party for my daughter and both the kids and parents all stayed and loved the day. You can hire the train for yourself at each of their stations for as little as $150 for 30 minutes, at the Diamond Creek site but then you need to send a family member early to reserve a table as the picnic and play grounds are open to the public. So maybe send the Dads ahead with reserved signs; throw blankets around and set up the chairs. We brought along a mum who was a face painter to keep the fun going in between train rides.

Or you can choose a totally private "all to yourself" option at the THE JACK TATUM MEMORIAL PICNIC SITE on the train line for $300 for an hour with the train and $150 for the picnic site all to yourselves. Then you can go round and round and round and round to your hearts delight.

For further information please call Sam Daly on 0402 836 450.
This Community Day, raised over 19,000 dollars last year. Make your $3 count as well.

And if you can't make this event, they have a Teddy Bear Picnic later in the year on June 12 and 13, 2016. Word your Teddy Bear up now that you are going on a bear hunt very soon and you are in for a big surprise. Teddy will be excited and so will your kids. Maybe don't tell them quite yet, or they will be nagging every day, "Is it here yet?"

So all aboard to friends and family and make sure you wave while you choo choo past.
