Bring your little ones here to play
This event is just for young children and it has been specifically designed for children aged 6 months to 5 years. There will be some great nature play activities for these younger children, including sensory risk-taking, craft, and "messy" play.

Organised by Nature Play WA, it will be held at the Matilda Bay Reserve, Hackett Drive, Crawley, on 21st February, 2018 from 9.00 am until 12.00 pm.

Activities will include the following:

Mud Play
Play with "mud-tastic mud kitchens". Your child could make some mud pies or mud scones!

Flower Bands
Create your very own nature arm band using the resources provided, or go through and look for natural materials that have fallen on the ground - such as leaves, flowers and bark.

Rock Decorating
Nature Play WA will help you paint rocks which you can hide and/or take home to hide later. Nature Play will provide everything needed to do this rock painting.

Bubble Wands
Using the resources provided, make your very own bubble wand out of pipe cleaners.

Story Time
There will be a special area set out for books and a reading area, and group readings will be held every half hour right throughout the event.

Sensory Adventure
There will be a Sensory Adventure area where your child can play and experience the touch, smell and sight of materials which are sourced locally.

What to bring
This event is held regardless of rain/weather, so you need to be prepared for all weathers. Some of the things it is suggested you bring for your child include:

Hat and Sunscreen (these are a must!)
Rashie or loose long sleeve top to keep the sun off
Spare change of clothes (there is mud play!)
Spare socks
Raincoat and gumboots if wet
Drink bottle with plenty of water and snacks
A Picnic rug

Nature Play WA events are a great way to have meaningful conversations with your children around "Leave No Trace", and this in turn will build awareness, appreciation and respect for our natural heritage.

This can also encourage the children to be responsible for their own areas of play with things such as disposing of waste, using only the resources they need, and making sure that the natural environment is not harmed during their play.

It is suggested that if the children are old enough, you have these conversations before and during the day. If you encourage your children to help with packing everything away at the end of their session, it is also a great way to help promote this awareness.

Please also note that your children are the responsibility of their parent/guardian at all times, and an adult must remain with each child during every activity they undertake.

Nature Play WA would love to get some photographs and videos of children at this event and would appreciate your permission to share these photos through our Nature Play WA networks. They do not always identify the child or individual and the photos are mainly to capture the fun of the event.

If you do not wish for photographs to be taken of your family, please advise staff at the registration desk who will provide you with a wristband for your wear during the event.

This will be a great event for children and their parents, and can help make unstructured, outdoor play a normal part of every child's life!

You can make your booking at the TryBooking site, and the cost is free for adults and $5 for participating children.
