Finding new and inexpensive activities during the school holidays can be a challenge, especially when the weather is less than perfect, and these classes fit the bill perfectly.
Classes are held school holiday weekdays until Wednesday the 25th January, from 10.30am until around midday, and are suitable for 5 to 10 year olds. A maximum of 20 children can participate each day and bookings are essential.
Each child gets a chefs hat and can eat their creations at the end so it is very good value for only $10.00 per child. On the menu is a pizza scroll for lunch with chocolate crackles for dessert. Both were very popular with all the kids present, if a little messy. Between recipes the kids sat and played some games and got to know each other a little bit.
The instructions were easy to follow, with lots of helpers around if needed, and Chef Mike demonstrated each step along the way so that the kids knew exactly what to do. It was all perfectly safe with no heat or cutting required. Its more about having fun than learning any intricate cooking techniques.
The Southern Cross Hotel is a great family friendly venue. It has a popular Oscar's bistro area inside, and when the weather is fine you can enjoy a meal and a drink out on the veranda, where they serve great value meals for the whole family. During school holidays kids eat free from 12 midday until 3pm.
A full and varied menu is on offer Sunday to Thursday from 12 midday until 9pm and on Fridays and Saturdays until 10pm. Functions services are also offered.
