The Brisbane Writers Festival (BWF) is challenging everybody to keep their Minds Wide Open from Wednesday, 2 to Sunday, 6 September, 2015.

The challenge of keeping an open mind can be accepted at various locations around Brisbane. Most events will be taking place in and around the Cultural Precinct at South Brisbane, particularly within State Library of Queensland, QAGOMA, and in a huge marquee on the Maiwar Green (sits between State Library of Queensland and GOMA).

For a full run-down on all the action happening over the BWF download the full programme here . There are numerous and very interesting FREE presentations on subjects including conducting investigative journalism by wi-fi and being inspired by the works of Queensland's leading poets.

Ticket prices to other events can vary from $12 to $70.

There is also the opportunity to acquire a Three Session Pack of tickets. This Pack entitles you to select any three events in the $14 to $17 price range and receive a 20% discount. This is a perfect gift and can be used as a taster for the general shows but it does not apply to any of the special events, lectures, seminars or masterclasses.

If you know what you want – and you want a lot – then the Golden Ticket is for you. The Golden Ticket enables you to have the ultimate Festival experience. You can pre-book reserved seats to all BWF events you want to attend. To make sure you have your Golden Ticket please phone BWF on 3255 0254 or email [email protected] by 12.00 noon Friday, 21 August. You will have to be quick because these tickets go very, very fast. Once you have it you can attend any and all public events with the exception being the masterclasses. Cost of a Golden Ticket is $249 for members and $299 for non-members.

During the Festival there will be over 45 Masterclasses on various aspects of interest to all budding and established writers. These classes are held in different venues in the State Library of Queensland. Check out what's available and make your bookings. Cost for this is $80 to $90 depending on whether you're a member of not.

Although the bulk of BWF is being held around the Cultural Centre, several events are being held at various local libraries and at The University of Queensland's St Lucia campus – check out page 6 of the programme on what and when you can catch one of these in the 'burbs.

BWF always creates a vibrant forum and provides a setting that can give the time and space to deep-dive and discuss ideas. Your voice can make a difference provided you keep your mind wide open.

This year the Festival will be opened by the Welsh journalist, humourist and documentary maker, Jon Ronson. Following on from Jon's introductions you can enjoy the musings of such luminaries as Cassandra Clare and Holly Black who along with David Burton, Eliza Henry Jones, Daniel Herborn, Christine Bongers, Deb Fitzpatrick and John Marsden will take over the Brisbane Square Library for 7 hours of non-stop **LOVE LA!
**
International guests to the BWF this year also include Naomi Alderman, Holly Black, Marc Lewis, Gavin Grant and several other well-known and respected authors.

Australian authors at the BWF include Kate Grenville and Sarah Waters along with Bernard Keane, Oliver Mol, Renata Singer, Briony Stewart and many, many others.

The Festival will INSPIRE you with a series of remarkable presentations such as Barbara Arrowsmith Young's amazing journey when she defied all the odds and changed her brain, Abdi Aden who arrived in Australia with no family, money or education and Andy Jackson who was born with Marfan's Syndrome. These and so many more stories and adventures await you at the BWF. Don't hesitate or you could miss out. Tickets went on sale to the general public last weekend and are sprinting out the door.

Keep your Mind Wide Open and, with the help of the programme work out your selections and book them on-line here . For a good synopsis of the whole Festival check out the 'Attending Festival' page in the Brisbane Writers Festival's webpage .
