Find out how to be a calmer, more connected and happier parent by attending the Mindfulness for Parents Workshop with Suzie Brown from Avista Mindfulness Training on Sunday on Sunday 28th August 2016.

If you sometimes find parenting frustrating, exhausting or a struggle, this half-day workshop will show you how mindfulness and meditation practices can help you be calmer, more effective and more connected with your children. Mindful parenting techniques helped Suzie to find real joy and ease as a mother, even through the hard times, and she'll show you how this can help you (and your kids) too.

The workshop is suitable for parents of children aged 0-11, as the focus will be on parenting strategies for this age group.

The course is facilitated by Suzie Brown, who will draw on her training as a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher and many years of Insight meditation practice, as well as her experience as a mother of a spirited child, to offer this practical workshop.

The workshop will include the following meditations and skills:

  • breath meditation

  • walking meditation

  • mindfulness of emotions

  • mindful parenting techniques for children aged 0-11

  • mindful listening and communicating

  • mindful movement (gentle yoga)

  • awareness and understanding of the causes of emotional stress and how to reduce it

    No prior meditation experience is required and the meditations and mindfulness 'habits' you will learn can be practiced everyday to develop focus and awareness, and help manage your strong emotions to be less reactive with your family.


    Bookings are essential and the participation fee is $75 per person or $70 for One Roof Melbourne members or Avista past participants.

    The workshop fee includes refreshments, guided audio meditations, Mindfulness wallcard, and Suzie's e-guide Top 10 Tips for Stress Free Parenting.
