Be calm, be present & discover yourself through Mindfulness
Zest Infusion is about to reprise its very successful Mindfulness and ACT For Beginners group programme for 2018. Each programme consists of a series of seven workshops for everybody interested in learning how to embrace Mindfulness Meditation and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a means of learning how to reduce stress and rumination and acquire the skills to manage anxiety and depression.
Zest Infusion has planned four programmes this year so you can select the one that suits your circumstances. The start and finish dates for these workshops are:
31 January to 14 March;
2 May to 13 June;
1 August to 12 September; and
17 October to 28 November.
The workshops for each of the programmes are being held every Wednesday evening in the Zest Infusion's rooms at 19/112 Birkdale Road, Birkdale for the seven weeks commencing at 6.00pm and finishing up at 7.30pm.
Cost for the full seven weeks programme is $350 or $50 per session. Course costs include all handouts and meditation audio tracks as well as tea and coffee on the night. If you obtain an eligible GP referral you can receive a $31.65 rebate per session through Medicare.
Registrations are now being taken for January/March programme and you can secure your place here. Spaces are limited to a maximum of 10 participants so if January best suits you then you'll need to act fast as these courses fill quickly. NOTE: Only five places remain open in the first course so be quick or you might have to wait until later in the year.
Full payment or a deposit of one week ($50) is required in advance with a payment either by PayPal, direct bank transfer or through contact with Zest Infusion's friendly receptionists on (07)38229983. You can also obtain the information necessary for your GP to facilitate a group therapy referral through Medicare if your GP feels this is appropriate and in line with the eligibility criteria.
Attending the Mindfulness and ACT for Beginners Programme you will learn how to live more in the present moment and improve your ability to concentrate, become more receptive rather than reactive, build resilience and lessen the likelihood of recurrent depression and/or anxiety.
Each session includes an introduction to Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and a mindfulness attitude, psycho-education, group discussion and practical mindfulness exercises and guided meditations. You also receive weekly mindful challenges to apply and practice at home supported by the complimentary meditation audios provided to all participants.
Programme facilitators are Dr Christina Reynolds, Dr Ilze Grobler and Ms Shannon Moule, all Clinical Psychologists with a special interest and extensive experience in the integration of mindfulness meditation and ACT. Their passion and authenticity is compelling and will keep you engaged from start to finish.
Mindfulness Meditation and ACT opens a world where you can take a non-evaluative and non-judgmental approach to your inner experience to be completely in touch with and aware of the present moment. During the seven-week programme you learn how to cultivate mindfulness to alter your habitual responses by taking pause and choosing how to act in your everyday life. But there is no need for you to take the journey alone because during the course you will join in a structured group therapy setting where you will meet others and form connections.
Mindfulness is an incredible tool that will empower you to slow down, become present in the moment and discover who you really are in the process. As Jon Kabat-Zinn, a father of the mindfulness movement says, "Mindfulness is about love and loving life. When you cultivate this love, it gives you clarity and compassion for life and your actions happen in accordance to that."
