By attending the Mindfulness and ACT for Beginners Programmeyou will learn how mindfulness can reduce your stress and rumination while at the same time give you the skills to manage anxiety and depression. Learn to live more in the present moment as you improve your ability to concentrate, become more receptive rather than reactive, build resilience and lessen the likelihood of recurrent depression and/or anxiety.
Programme facilitator is Shannon Moule, Clinical Psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). During each of the weekly sessions Shannon will present a discussion of a mindfulness concept, formal and informal mindful meditation practice and homework tasks.
Mindfulness Meditation and ACT opens a world where only a gentle effort is necessary for you to be completely in touch with and aware of the present moment as you take a non-evaluative and non-judgmental approach to your inner experience. During this seven-week programme you will learn how to cultivate mindfulness to alter your habitual responses by taking pause and choosing how to act in your everyday life. But there is no need for you to take the journey alone because during the course you will join in a structured group therapy setting where you will meet others and form connections.
Mindfulness is an incredible tool as it empowers you to slow down, become present in the moment and discover who you really are in the process. As Jon Kabat-Zinn, a father of the mindfulness movement says, "Mindfulness is about love and loving life. When you cultivate this love, it gives you clarity and compassion for life and your actions happen in accordance to that."
