Minang Nasi Padang is a (very) small and casual Indonesian Restaurant in Carlton, near Melbourne University.
Essentially there's just a bain-marie where you're served (a plate on a tray, help yourself to cutlery), and then a few tables.
I had to sit at the end of the hallway, which was kind of weird and cold.
But if you're on a budget, this place is
great. Their lunch and dinner special is three side dishes, with or without rice, for $6.50.
I chose three vegetarian dishes: vegetables (bean shoots and carrots), soft tofu, and some kind of fried, grated vegetable cake. They also had a beef stew-looking dish, sambal/chili eggs, and something with eggplant.
The flavours of all three of my dishes seemed mostly just a mix of soy sauce and oil, but I honestly enjoyed this lunch anyway.
