Minamishima is Melbourne's only three hat Japanese restaurant and for good reason. Trying fugu sashimi here was a once in lifetime culinary experience. The fish was sliced incredibly thin and had a firm texture with a mild taste. It was accompanied with ponzu sauce and a fugu jelly terrine.
Fugu is considered a delicacy in Japan and comes from the poisonous pufferfish. Japanese chefs who wish to prepare fugu must undergo a three-year apprenticeship to do so and be licensed to serve it.
