Taking the dog for walk will take on a whole new meaning on Sunday 16th May. The annual RSPCA Million Paws Walk will be held in various locations throughout Australia, with money raised going towards the care of all creatures great and small that the RSPCA rescue through their shelters. The event is the RSPCA's largest fundraiser and attracts thousands of entries every year.
You can walk solo or in teams with your four-legged friend, however non-pet owners are also welcome to join in. Register online and choose your location, which ranges from Albert Park in the city to regional Victoria (a map of locations can be found here). Once you've registered you can even build your own site to encourage sponsorship from family and friends.
The Albert Park event is $20 for adults and $10, with special rates for families or groups larger than 10. Beginning at 8.30am the walk will circle the lake and provide plenty of time afterwards to socialize with other dog lovers or enjoy some of the entertainment.
The RSPCA will provide free vet advice and dog washes to pamper your pooch. There will also be food and drink available, and a 'Kids Corner' with face painting and fun activities. Great prizes will also be up for grabs for a few lucky walkers including a trophy for the largest team and movie tickets. So grab your leash and get walking.
