If you have a sweet tooth for extra yummy desserts, then you must check out Milkaholic late night dessert bar. Based on Edward Street Norwood, the quirky cafe once known as Marmalade has rebranded itself as a super stylish dessert and not to mention weekend breakfast bar. It has a very cosy feel, with antique arm chairs and an eclectic mix of photos, frames and artwork covering each corner of the walls. Sit inside, or sit out in the courtyard which is decked out with a wood fire and a very 'at home' kind of feel.
I treated myself to banana and peanut butter waffles with chocolate ice-cream and the only regret was that I decided to share. I am not usually an overly 'dessert' kind of person, but these were absolutely divine. Our smoothies which were presented to us in jam jars, also added to the experience.
I love this place because it's a little different, not only in the bar's layout and presentation of food but also in what they have to offer. I spent half of my time there perving on the wall art, which was a mixture of family photos, vintage frames and other bits and pieces. I am very much a 'mix and match' person, I hate it when places and things are too clean cut, so this for me is the perfect little place to hang out for a smoothie, coffee or whatever you feel like really.
The dessert bar is open Wednesday to Sunday till very late, which is another benefit. A lot of dessert kitchens around Adelaide are great, but they are shut by nine which makes it a little hard. This little gem is the perfect place to head after dinner or a movie (or even if you just have a little late night craving).
If dessert isn't your thing, don't be alarmed. On Saturdays and Sundays they offer breakfast until 2pm and I would go so far to say they have the best mushrooms in Adelaide (they are seriously so good.) So, really you have no excuse not to check this super cute place out, because let's face it even if sweetness isn't your thing, everyone loves a good brekky.
Been meaning to check this place out, as hadn't been there since it was Marmalade (who at the time did the best eggs and smoked salmon, yum!). Noticed there was a dessert bar placard out the front not so long ago so, had it in mind to go back and check it out again. Theirs is one of the few places on or around The Parade which actually gets sun on it's outside seating area, too. Don't you just love it - coffee in the afternoon sun, away from the hurly burly of everything during the week!!! Yes, I will have to go and find out what time in the afternoon/evening/morning they open... really? Banana and peanut butter - yum.
