A playground with it all
Hornsby's Mildred Avenue Playground has undergone a refurbishment recently and everything is currently in tip-top shape. There's a range of play equipment for kids of various ages, open spaces, and tables. If parents want to bring along a snack, it would be a great place for a run after school or on the weekend.
The equipment at this playground ranges from a small slide and a toddler swing for young kids to a climbing frame for older children. There's a very spongy surface under it all that should limit casualties.
My favourite piece of equipment, the swings, are a fixture here
A small path around the equipment is perfect for whatever kind of bike/scooter/rollerblades your kids like. An open space to one side (which extends a little round the corner, should you choose to venture over there) can be used for some ball games or to play Tip.
The open space extends around the corner a little
Because it's located on a street corner, parking for the playground is limited. It's actually a little worse than you would expect too, because you can't actually park on one of the two roads that border the park (Jersey Street). However you shouldn't struggle to find a spot as it doesn't get too busy.
The only visitors when I was at the playground was a flock of galahs
