Curating a list of venue to dine after the pandemic lockdown with family and friends? Now you can enjoy trying out more restaurants and menus for less thanks to the City of Melbourne.

Its dining rebate programme is back on the menu. If you missed the first Melbourne Money, don't fret. This latest version called Midweek Melbourne Money is offering even more rebates.

The City of Melbourne's Lord Mayor shared that the first round of Melbourne Money introduced in May 2021 was a huge success with $40 million poured into the city's hospitality businesses and foot traffic bounced back three times faster than after previous lockdowns. Following this success, the rebate has been increased from 20 to 30 per cent for spending of $50 or more between Monday and Thursday, up to a total spend of $500.

This programme continued to be offered through the $200 million Melbourne City Revitalisation Fund - a joint partnership between the City of Melbourne and the Victorian Government. $5 million has been allocated for Midweek Melbourne Money.

How to use Midweek Melbourne Money?

The program is available now and rebates are available on a first-in-best-served basis until available funds are exhausted. Check the Midweek Melbourne Money website for regular updates on the remaining program funds before submitting your claim.

You have to dine in the City of Melbourne municipality on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and spend, a minimum of $50 and up to $500 (including GST) in a single transaction can claim a 30 per cent rebate.

Rebates are only available to eligible hospitality venues located within the City of Melbourne municipality. They include cafés and restaurants, bars and pubs, breweries and distilleries, registered clubs, fast food and takeaway outlets, juice bars, kiosks, food courts, coffee/cake and delicatessen venues, hospitality venues within sporting, arts and theatre precincts and cinemas. Do note that food must be purchased alongside alcohol for your bill to be eligible.

You are entitled to a maximum rebate of $150 for the duration of the Midweek Melbourne Money program to your nominated bank account. You cannot claim rebates across multiple bank accounts. You will receive a 30 per cent rebate of the total food bill to your nominated bank account within five business days of the claim being approved.
