Hello again!

Our adventures of Midtown Manhattan continued with perfect summer weather each of the days we were there. Pretty much the best time of year to travel here is June - August.

We start with Times Square, which really blew me away, situated on the corner of 42nd Street right in the middle of mid town. You can't miss it. The adrenaline and the buzz you get from that place is really something special that I've never experienced in Australia before. I felt as though all my senses were bombarded at the same time, and the number of people navigating there is incredible.

Other than the crowds, there is a lot of public activity in Times Square - lots of shops, cafes, and public festivals and displays. On that occasion it was the Mind Body festival and free public yoga lessons for all. There is also a police station strategically positioned there too.

Around the vicinity of Times Square are all the Broadway musicals at various theatres along those couple of streets. Definitely take the opportunity to see at least one - we watched Matilda, it was fantastic. But you will need to book your tickets in advance..

Hells Kitchen is another street parallel to Times Square a short walk away, where there are numerous restaurants, cafes and bars. I've been told they are slightly more expensive, however you can find some cheaper deals here too. We went to a place called Five Napkin Burger which cost us $50 for two people for a burger dish and drinks with a side each, slightly steep but we were told it was one of the best vegetarian burgers in town. Oh, and the serving sizes was absolutely enormous - needless to say we couldn't finish our dishes.

Midtown is also home to Little Italy and Chinatown, streets and streets of restaurants and shops, again a reflection of the rich cultural diversity that New York offers. You really can't miss any of the world cuisine here and you don't need to look far for some authentic flavours and dishes. There's plenty to try for everyday you are here.

There are a few other things to see in Midtown Manhattan such as the New York City Library, a beautiful piece of architecture that you will find amongst many other buildings in Manhattan, with large marble staircases and halls. A great photo opportunity once again.

Also, I haven't even talked about all the shopping yet - I will list the best shopping places in Manhattan in my next article as well as the best place to purchase diamonds.

And so I shall stop here and continue with Uptown Manhattan in my next article. Watch this space.
