The Midland Railway Workshops closed in 1994 but many of the buildings remain. Some were converted to apartments, others house police operations, a GP super clinic and even an Olympic training track, but many are dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Workshops. The Midland Railway Workshops Heritage Day provides an opportunity to explore the past and discover the vision for the future of this important piece of Western Australian history.

The Open Day is packed with events for the whole family. Youngsters can take mini train rides then learn to build their own model train. For the history buff there are displays, guided tours and vintage machinery demonstrations. There will be free musical entertainment and food and drink available for purchase, plus many other activities.

As well as celebrating the past, visitors can imagine the future at the Midland Atelier , Western Australia's first creativity and design innovation hub, located in the heart of the workshops.

For almost a century the Workshops built and repaired steam locomotives, carriages, wagons, tracks, and signals. Don't miss this opportunity to experience one of the most important industrial heritage sites in the state.

Parking is limited, so why not take the train? The Workshops are only a short walk from Midland Station.
