Perhaps you see yourself as a bit of psychic. When you enter old buildings, your skin starts to tingle and you feel an icy chill. Or perhaps, on the other hand, you are a bit of sceptic. Ghosts are a hoax. Or are they?

Both believers and non-believers are welcome on the Midland Ghost Tour.

When Councillor Patty Williams first entered The Midland Town Hall for a council meeting her skin really did tingle and the temperature seemed to drop a few notches.

'I didn't want everyone to think I was crazy so I said nothing,' she says.' Some months went by and over a meal one night I overheard other councillors discussing the ghost. ... I discovered many unexplained incidents had occurred over the years in the Town Hall. I was interested to find out more so I visited the Midland Library to start my research and to my amazement, there were several records relating to unexplained incidents.'

Digging deeper and inviting mediums to investigate, she found Midland Town Hall was one of the most active buildings these paranormal experts had ever investigated. 'What followed has been amazing,' she says. '.... We have identified around 72 entities to date. I personally have now seen three full-figured ghosts and many shadows in the town hall."

Apparently, she is not alone. There have been many sightings including those of an elderly lady with grey hair, a little girl behind the curtains on the stage and a gentleman looking down from the eerie clock tower.

Patty Williams set up Shanks Pony Ghost Tours to share this experience with all those who are curious, whether they be believers or sceptics.

Tours are genuine and can be scary for some.

So participants must be 16 years or older.

On the other hand, if you don't sight a ghost you will still learn a lot about the history of the old town hall. Opened in 1907, Midland Town Hall is an outstanding example of the Federation Free Classical architectural. Later a clock tower was placed on top of the dome as a memorial to the men who lost their lives in WW1.

Between 1995 and 2000, approximately $3 million was spent on restoring and conserving the Midland Town Hall so it is a beauty to behold.

Patty who runs the tours has great respect for the building and its worldly and otherworldly residents and you will enjoy her great knowledge and stories.

There are three different tours and some dates book out incredibly quickly. They are:

Ghost tours of the Midland Town Hall: Come along and witness equipment used in paranormal investigations. Cost $40.00

Paranormal Workshops: 4-hour workshops followed by a light supper. Here you get to investigate the unexplained with not only Shanks Pony Tours but paranormal investigators. You get to use and monitor equipment used in a paranormal investigation as seen on TV. Small Group sessions investigate known haunted areas. Cost $80.00.

Mystery Bus Ghost Tours: 5 hours of fun and laughter on the mystery bus tour. The night starts with a meal in the beautiful Swan Valley. The bus then takes participants to a few secret haunted locations finishing up at the Midland Town Hall for a tour of this allegedly haunted building. Cost $135 per person (but includes dinner)
