If you're anything like me and you're tired of the endless display of expensive, too-perfect-to-eat fruit and veg at your local supermarket, then I think I've found the place for us!
Midland Farmers Market is held every Sunday from 7am to 3pm, along the old Great Northern Highway, behind the town hall clock in Midland. Honestly, if you want real fruit and veg straight from the growers themselves, then you need to check this place out.
Established for over 30 years, this market is the second oldest market in Perth, which says something in itself.
The fruit and veg are excellent quality, very cheap, in season, locally grown where possible and it's real! The fruit has little rub marks on it from where it was hanging in the tree (oh, so that's where they come from) and the veg looks like something you might grow in your own veg garden - if you had the time and space.
While you're at the markets, check out the other non-food stalls as well; along with cheese, Italian cakes, and gourmet mustards and pickles. If you're there over lunch, make sure you try the Bratwurst sausages with fried onion in a bun, washed down with a can of something sweet and fizzy. Live music to cheer you along with all the parking conveniences of Midland.
Definitely recommend you have a look at this one. I know I'll be a regular. No more plastic veg in our house. Hurrah!
