They say a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. Well, Mic in Hand is worth $10. This weekly open mic night for comedians has been running since 2003, and has a reputation for being one of the friendliest open comedy nights around. This attracts a lot of new talent, which attracts a regular crowd, which attracts established comedians keen to test out new material, which attracts an even larger crowd, which attracts a lot of new talent... and so the cycle continues.

A Mic in Hand began in 2003 and over the years has seen the likes of international acts Daniel Kitson, Danny Bhoy and Ross Noble; as well as the cream of the Australian comedy crop such as Will Anderson. But in the spirit of fostering a supportive comedic environment, it will only ever cost you 10 buckeroos (which is a bit of a bargain considering The Comedy Store will generally cost you double that on the same night of the week).

A Mic in Hand takes place every Thursday evening at The Friend in Hand pub in Glebe, which is popular with the punters for its somewhat unusual entertainment such as weekly crab racing! Check the Mic in Hand website to see who is headlining this week and get ready to tickle those funnybones.
