I visited Miami Bakehouse Melville on Sunday, 4 August 2019. Miami Bakehouse Melville is located at 369 Canning Highway Melville, Perth, WA 6157, Opposite Melville Plaza. It is open on Mondays from 7.15am to 4.45pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7.15am to 5.00pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 7.00am to 5.00pm and Sundays from 6.45am to 4.30pm. I found the staff in Miami Bakehouse Melville to be really friendly and helpful with explaining the menu to me. We ended up ordering the Pie of the Week (which was lasagne), a traditional Steak Pie, a sausage roll, a mocha and a milkshake.
Our food was brought out to our table immediately. I really liked my lasagne flavoured pie. They did a really good job at recreating the taste and texture of lasagne. The crust was perfectly flaky and the meat was a perfect blend of all of the flavours you would expect to find in lasagne. I can see why their pies have won so many awards and have become so popular and well known. Their ideas are really creative. They take the humble meat pie and transform it into something different.
The mocha that I ordered came out really quickly. It had a little chocolate love heart dusted on top which I liked. The coffee wasn't too hot and had a really good taste. It wasn't too watery, it didn't taste burnt and the flavours were really well balanced. Our milkshake was very large and came with cream, sprinkles, syrup and chocolate sprinkles on top. It had a very nice minty, gingerbread taste. It wasn't too overpowering or too sweet which I liked. It was big enough to share between the three of us which I thought was good value.
My husband got a traditional steak pie. I had a couple of bites and it was one of the nicest steak pies I've ever tasted. It had the fluffiest crust and a pie filling that was thick and had a smooth, pleasant taste. I could have easily eaten the whole thing.
My little girl got a sausage roll. She is not a huge fan of pies or sausages so she was disappointed when the plate got put down in front of her. But she gave it a go and ended up really liking it. It didn't take her long to finish off the whole thing and for there to be nothing left but crumbs on the plate.
For dessert, we got a vanilla slice. It was our favourite part of the meal. It wasn't too fatty, it had a nice pastry base, a good layer of icing, and a cool custard core that wasn't too rich and had a really pleasing taste. I enjoyed the vanilla slice so much I wouldn't mind coming back again one day and trying another one of their desserts like an eclair, a cupcake, an apple pie or a slice of banana cake. Our daughter is a huge comic book fan so she chose a spider-man cookie for her dessert. It was a nice big size and came with thick red icing with lots of sprinkles and black and white frosting on it. It put a big smile on her face.
