Spend this year's Cinco de Mayo amidst tall ships and skyscrapers within a scenic waterfront neighborhood in the Big Apple. On Saturday, May 5, 2012, New York City residents and visitors who navigate their way to historic South Street Seaport will be treated to Mex Fest on the Seaport , presented by iAdventure.

Anyone who has spent some time walking around Manhattan has spotted a gourmet food truck or two in their travels. These mobile street food eateries offer diverse international cuisine, such as burgers and fries, shakes, sandwiches, coffee, fresh juices, pizza and more, and have become part of the city's food culture.

On May 5, instead of coming upon these food trucks by chance, or having to check their whereabouts via social media or websites—15 of them are the festival's main attractions. And to keep it exciting, each truck's challenge is to serve at least one of their usual street food specialties with hints of Mexican flavors.

While it won't be difficult for the Mexico Blvd NYC truck to infuse such ingredients into their menu items, it will be interesting to see (and taste) what their fellow dining venues on wheels will concoct for event attendees. Check out the delicious creations by Luke's Lobster, Big D's Grub Truck, Gorilla Cheese NYC , Eddie's Pizza, Frites 'N' Meats, Coolhaus Sandwiches, Schnitzel & Things, Kelvin Natural Slush Co , Souvlaki GR , Treats Truck and Taim Mobile.

Joining other participants— Kimchi Taco and Milk Truck will exhibit their culinary skills by incorporating event-themed ingredients to serve tasty dishes.

Use your taste ticket to select up to five delicious items from your favorite food trucks. Other ticket packages and vouchers are available, so choose what you deem best for your party of friends or your family.

Walk around and sway to lively music from the DJ, watch contestants consume hot chili peppers, and bask in your prized waterfront views of the East River while enjoying some beer or margarita.

Or take a short stroll to one of the many wooden benches along the East River Esplanade where you can sample your treats.

Should you opt to bring your own sombreros, it's highly likely you won't be the only one doing so. And more importantly, make sure you drop by with your appetite for the varied Mexican-flavored food items you'll sample on the 5th.
