Mersey Bluff is a beautiful foreshore area in Devonport, Tasmania.
There is a wonderful modern children's playground – including a fenced area for the littlies and a skate park for the older kids. There is a large climbing net and swings, as well as slides and other equipment.

A great playground for all ages.
In the same area as the playground, there is a large covered barbecue area – however, if this is busy there is ample grassed areas and a small beach suitable for picnicking. If you haven't got your own food with you, there is also Drift Cafe Restaurant which has outdoor seating and a fantastic view of the ocean.

Great facilities!
Venturing around the bluff from the playground there is a short and easy walk along the cliff tops. If the sea is wild there is plenty to capture the imagination as it crashes onto the rocks below. On this walk, you are afforded great views of the ocean but also back into Devonport itself.

Lovely views of the crashing ocean waves.
The beach here is a favourite surf hangout and the home of the Surf Life Saving Club so on good days there are plenty of surfers to watch in action. There is also a lighthouse to walk up to which dates from 1889.

There's something magical about lighthouses.
This is a great area to spend some time in if you are waiting for your Spirit of Tasmania trip. Especially if you are travelling with children – great for wearing them out before the long voyage!
