The best kept secret in Southbank
Upon entry, The Merrywell presents boldly, with the "Burger Bar" giving off a funky pub/bistro vibe where you order and pay at the counter, and grab any spare seat you can find. The staff are very friendly and the food is always piping hot.
But the best kept secret is Upstairs @ The Merrywell, which offers a vastly different experience, including table service, a great selection of wines, and a sumptuous menu to satisfy any taste.
The layout is functional and well-thought-out, the colours are warm and inviting and the terrace has a fabulous view of the Yarra and the flame towers which will give you a good blast of heat on a cold winter's night.
Even when taking a seat at the bar (if you have to wait for your table) you're made to feel welcome by the staff and they will happily serve you a drink or two which you can take to your table with you when it's ready.
The food at the Merrywell is nothing short of delicious. The menu offers everything from a Mexican Pot Pie to the famous Merrywell Burger. The wait staff are well informed and always happy to make a suggestion should you be unsure what you feel like. The food is fresh and hearty and you are never made to feel like you have to 'eat and run'.
The Merrywell is also now open for lunch Friday - Sunday between 12 and 2:30pm.
