A night out in the park, a special picnic with a friend, Shakespeare brought to life in a fun and frivolous way, where students barely even know they are studying. The Melbourne Shakespeare Company brings all this to life.

We were invited along to join in the play of Twelfth Night in the Malvern Gardens. However, their next series, promising to be just as much fun, is The Merry Wives of Windsor in St Kilda Gardens in December 2019.

**Here's what we experienced at Twelfth Night:
**
Picnic baskets were scattered around the lawns and people sipped on wine and lemonade with pizza boxes or homemade snacks and treats. Outdoor chairs sprawled around the outskirts, allowing everyone good views.

The beautiful Central Park Gardens in Malvern in March lent a historic feel to the show, under the stars.

Press Release on Twelfth Night:
When Viola, a young Melbourne socialite, becomes shipwrecked on the shores of a strange and mysterious land, she fears she will never see her twin brother again. Setting aside her grief she steels herself to conquer her fears, but a strange twist of events embroils her in a love triangle that is both hilarious and thrilling. With show-stopping tunes and a contemporary setting, this Shakespeare classic maintains all its charm and humour along with it its own unique qualities that are sure to please.

The show was playful, fun and highly entertaining and with so much going on, you were never really sure where to look. Some characters took their roles in a very serious manner, others seemed to be nothing like this, yet they intertwined a lovely sense of camaraderie both with the actors and the audience.

Amidst disguises and shipwrecks, bogans and high society, the actors appeared to be thoroughly enjoying themselves with the entire gardens as their stage.

Their next production of The Merry Wives of Windsor, promises the same light-hearted and educational fun. If you have a student, this will be the easiest way to learn text ever. I am certain you will have a fun night supporting local theatre.
