Merriwa Park is a tranquil reserve located below the road level on the south side of Ryley Street, Wangaratta, away from the traffic and noise. Towering river red gum trees shade much of the area which also contains a playground and lawn tennis courts.

The long, winding pond and adjoining fernery provide an ideal refuge on summer days when the temperatures soar.

The resident ducks happily glide through the pond or waddle along the extensive well-maintained lawns, mingling with other native birds.

At one end, the pond is covered in a layer of water lilies and reeds.

Enjoy a picnic or bring your own supplies and make use of the electric barbecues or just stroll and observe the diversity of plants, trees and birdlife on the grounds.
