Treasure in the Tin Shed

I have lived on the Mornington Peninsula for years and have passed the Merricks General Wine Store on so many occasions, and had never been in, I always said I must have a look one day.

Well, on the weekend I did, and it was nothing like I expected it to be. It was so much better than I ever expected from the unassuming exterior. The original interior is lovely and the owners are doing a wonderful job at keeping it rustic with lots of character and plenty of charm.

Sunday morning, and it was bustling, the car park full. It seems a very fashionable escape for the city folk enjoying a late breakfast/morning tea.

Not a seat in the house.

Can't stop too long, we were heading to Baldry Crossing for a bush walk.

I have great expectations of going back and enjoying breakfast before exploring the local wineries, but after seeing the cakes, I'm sure I could settle for morning/afternoon tea without needing my arm twisted. The possibilities.

Now I just need to find more time.

As you can see there are plenty of local wines to try.
