The Mernda Community Fair puts a lot of thought into providing families in the community a day of low-cost, family friendly entertainment. Back again, head to the Mernda Recreation Reserve on Schotters Rd, Mernda from 10am to 5pm on Sunday 1 March 2020. Entry is FREE. Your friendly pooches only, on leads, are welcome at the Fair, and you must pick up after your pooch. See Brad at the Therapy Animals Australia stall for a free dog treat.
As always, attractions are either free or as cheap as possible so families can attend without having to worry about huge costs. There's market stalls, food trucks, a free and exclusive TEEN ONLY area featuring a DJ, inflatable sports area, seating and more. There's also a MAIN and COMMUNITY stage for entertainment, a petting zoo and reptile show for animal lovers, face painting, a Ninja course, Gami Gami Devils and Team Dream performances, Classic Cars, Dodgem Cars, Bungee Trampoline, Zorb balls, local sports and community groups, scouts, SES, CFA and more. If you're a stallholder, there are still vacancies for market stalls (please note, no more space for jewellery, candles, bath bombs, body care or lolly stalls) at a Fair with an expected attendance of 5000 people. CLICK HERE to APPLY.
It may surprise you to know that the Fair is run entirely by a team of enthusiastic, dedicated volunteers from the local community. The event was started by local residents and continues to operate the same way today with volunteers from the Mernda and District Residents Association as well as others. If you'd like to get involved, they can always use an extra pair of hands either on the day or to help out with preparations. Give them a bell via provided links. They have meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month and the next one upcoming is their first meeting for 2020 on 19 Feb. An open meeting, all are welcomed to attend. See the link for details.
