Whenever we visit Sydney, the Meriton Suites in Zetland is always our go-to stop for accommodation. Besides only being four kilometres south of Sydney's CBD, it's also only a stone's throw from Sydney's fashion strips and culinary delights of Surry Hills and Paddington. And….a big plus, it's just under five kilometres from Sydney Airport - all advantages to less travelling time spent in the hectic Sydney traffic. You have to remember here that we live on the Sunshine Coast, where traffic and parking is always easily accessible and if we have more than five cars on the road at any one time, it's deemed to be 'peak hour'.



I also love the fact that with the Meriton Suites in Zetland, we are able to book on-line via their website with no payment being required until the day we arrive. (The author is unaware whether this is still the case.)



From the minute we walk into the foyer at this apartment block in Zetland, everything is pristinely clean and welcoming. The reception staff are always on hand to assist with any tourist arrangements one would like to make, give you recommendations of places to visit and even make dinner reservations for you, if necessary.



On arrival, we were offered a choice of which block we would prefer as there are a total of four in this complex. It might sound like it's slightly over-populated, but Meriton have managed to create a stunning garden oasis within this self-contained accommodation. From previous visits, we knew which were the 'busy' streets and chose one of the apartment blocks off the main street of De Fries, which ensured we would have a good night sleep, should there be any party revellers until the wee hours of the morning.



All the suites are air-conditioned, have a well-equipped kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator. Each suite has a spacious living and dining area as well as a furnished balcony area. Guests can enjoy a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and even receive one GB of free WiFi for every twenty-four hours of your visit. Private parking is available on site at an extra cost of $30 per night - prior reservation is not required for this facility.

All guests are issued with an electronic swipe-card to access your individual suites. The buildings have security controlled lifts and building access, which means when visitors arrive (like my son and his partner), you as a guest, need to allow them access.

If you're not looking to explore the city of Sydney (how likely is this?) then the Meriton Suites in Zetland has some first class fitness facilities which include a twenty metre lap pool; spa; sauna and a state of the art gym. These facilities are open every day from 6.00am to 10.00pm. As I'm not a big weekend gym junkie (I have to rest some time), we didn't quite make it to view these facilities, but I've managed to get some photos for your from their Facebook page.



Meriton Suites in Zetland are a three minute drive from Moore Park Golf Course (for all those golfers out there) and only a fifteen minute walk from Green Square Train Station. With taxi ranks, Uber and Go-Get all being readily available in Sydney, transport is never a problem.



The self-contained Meriton Suites are perfect for both leisure and business travellers and having the urban marketplace of East Village Shopping Centre just across the road, offering dining, a supermarket and even a pharmacy, make it the perfect choice for a quick weekend in Sydney.

The Meriton Suites in Zetland are rated the best value in Sydney, with guests getting more value for their money in comparison to other properties in the city. Couples rate the Meriton Suites a 9/10 for location and a two-person trip. With accolades like this, one soon realises that the Meriton Suites in Zetland is definitely a winner!
