Take a short diversion off the Hume Highway to Gunning and visit the Merino Cafe . Here you will be able to have a relaxing break with great food and coffee far from the madding crowd.

The decor of the cafe is interesting, the walls are adorned with historical pictures and humorous signs. You can even have a bit of retail therapy whilst waiting for your refreshments as the shop is stocked with local gourmet goodies, books and quirky homewares.

The selection of cakes and slices which are all "lovingly home made" will tempt you and the coffee was just what we needed. All day breakfast is on the menu and Merino Cafe prides itself on using fresh local produce. A blackboard menu indicates daily specials, gluten and dairy free items are provided. The shop is air conditioned which was much appreciated during the recent heatwave. The outdoor garden courtyard is very attractive and would be a great place for family relaxation in cooler weather. Takeaway is available and the staff welcome a steady stream of travelers and locals through their door daily.
