Merindah Park in Sandringham is a dog off-leash area with the best of both worlds: a large grassy open area for running around in the western section, and lots of bushes and trees to sniff in the eastern section.

The main entrance of the park is on Spring Street along the southern boundary, with access also available from Holloway Road in the north.

The main open grassy area is huge, with plenty of space for dogs to run around, chase a ball and generally have fun. Planted trees line the boundary near the housing fence line, and there are also a few seats scattered around, including a picnic table in one corner. There is a drinking fountain for both people and dogs.

The eastern section of the park contains a line of large shady pine trees, and extensive landscaping has been undertaken with wide gravel paths, mulched garden beds and dense plantings of native plants, giving a bush-like feel to this area. There are seats, a dog-poo bag station, bin and even a doggy paddle pool here as well.

For those who want to walk further, Merindah Park is joined by a track that continues to the south through more parkland to join up with the dog-friendly George Street Heathland Reserve .

The local council has undertaken soil remediation work in the park to manage elevated lead concentrations from a battery manufacturing factory that closed down in 1988. Several areas have been fenced off with mulching and plantings and these should not be entered by people or dogs. There are several signs with more information about this in the park.
