The perfect scenic and tranquil boardwalk
Get in touch with nature and explore the wonders of the ever-changing Merimbula Lake on the Merimbula Boardwalk.

The start of the boardwalk...

This Boardwalk is the perfect way to explore nature and the great outdoors with an easy and scenic walk. The walk takes around 1-2 hours to complete, following bushlands, mangroves, the lake and towering trees.

Enjoy the scenic and tranquil nature walk...

Spot out the sea and shore birds, discover the hidden wonders that call the mangroves home, or take a break and enjoy "me time" or a picnic under the canopying eucalypt trees.

This is the perfect family-friendly outdoor and nature attraction...

This 3.4 kilometre walk is also accessible for wheelchairs, prams and cycles as well as being dog-friendly (pooches must be on leash).

Stop and read the signs along the way, which highlight the local sea and shore birds, vegetation, interesting lake information and history.

There are many lookouts throughout the boardwalk...

Merimbula Lake is a complex estuarine embayment and this estuary is straddled by the coastal city of Merimbula and the Boardwalk offers a spectacular way to discover the gems of Merimbula with its stunning backdrop surrounding the Boardwalk and the Lake.

The Mangrove at the Boardwalk is one small selection of mangrove that is accessed by the public and it is the most southerly situated of any mangrove boardwalk in Australia, as well as being the highest latitude mangrove boardwalk in the world, making this walk a must-add on the bucket list!

The mangrove walk also offers the perfect opportunity to identify the two local mangrove plant species, which are worth an inspection for their unusual southern Australian characteristics.
This walking track is certainly one not to miss with its ever-changing lake, mangroves and surrounding bushlands.
