isn't a traditional aquarium. Instead, it is a transformed pedestrian underpass featuring numerous local icons as aquarium ornaments. One such icon is the old diving blocks from Merewether Ocean Baths.

This charming underwater world mural has been brought to life by renowned Newcastle artist Trevor Dickinson . Inspiration for the artwork came from previous drawings, personal photographs and online searches. Existing lights were also incorporated into the design. Trevor mixed normal household paint to create all the colours needed.

The tunnel, and hence the mural, is 30 metres long. It can be found at the southern end of Merewether Beach not far from the ocean baths . Entry to the aquarium is via either Ridge Street or Henderson Parade. Both these entrances are rather impressive too. They give you a sense of excitement about what you're going to encounter.
