In his remembrance prayer, Chaplain, the Reverend John Marshall will call on the audience to remember the ANZACS who gave their lives in the cause of "Peace" and "Malaysian Independence" and all who have been laid to rest in cemeteries throughout Malaysia.

He will remember 65 valiant Australians and their families and 67 valiant New Zealand Servicemen and families.

"Let us remember the 1374 valiant members of the Royal Malayan and Royal Malaysian Police Force and Malay Armed Forces who gave their lives in the cause of 'peace' and 'independence'," the prayer says.

"Let us also remember the 3325 courageous Malayan planters, miners and civilians who also fell during the Malaysian Emergency period, supporting all Commonwealth Defence Forces and the Malayan and later Malaysian public."

Following the service, all visitors are invited to attend a light lunch of Malaysian foods served at the Wildflower Pavilion.

The service is organised under the auspices of:

The Association of Malaysians in Western Australia Inc, an independent, non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit organisation endeavouring to provide a wide variety of services to all Malaysians in Western Australia. Incorporated in October 2005, by the initiative of the Malaysian Consul General in Perth, the Association of Malaysians in Western Australia Inc is committed to presenting, practising and spreading the unity of Malaysians, and former Malaysians, regardless of race, religion and culture in Western Australia.

The Malaya Borneo Veterans WA Inc is a self-funding, non-profit association manned by unpaid volunteers. From 1995 to 2011 the Malaya Borneo Veterans WA Inc operated as a State Branch of The National Malaya Borneo Veterans Association Australia Inc (Canberra). There are now three separate incorporated and independent MBV associations operating within Australia.

The Malaya Borneo Veterans WA Inc membership is made up of those members of the defence forces of Australia, Britain and Armed Forces of Commonwealth and Allied countries. Australian Police or Royal Federation of Malaya Police, as service men and women, or, auxiliary operatives directly connected through service in Malaya, Malaysia, Borneo (as an entity), Singapore, Indonesia, East Timor or New Guinea.

Malayan Volunteer Group Australia (MVG) first developed from an informal gathering of a few Volunteer Veterans in the U.K who had met in London annually to reminisce. As their numbers gradually decreased, the tradition was carried on by their children and families, many of whom were child evacuees from Malaya and Singapore during December 1941 and February 1942.

The aims of the MVG are to:
Educate and raise historical awareness of the Malayan Volunteers, the evacuation and the resultant evacuees, to gain delayed acceptance of the roles in the Malayan campaign.
Re-introduce Malayan Volunteer / Colonial families and others, of all races and creeds, who lost contact over the years.
Assist former families, and other interested parties, research their own people's Volunteer / evacuee connections.
Raise money to commemorate the historical conflicts known, and or researched, by the presentation of new memorials and the restoration of existing ones, around the world.

In 1941 42 the Malayan Volunteers and auxiliaries played a vital role in the defence of Malaya, their families, their homes and their livelihoods. All conflicts and social happenings raised during research are displayed within the Association's media outlet, the APA KHABER Magazine, and the Association Web site.
