Men With Coconuts

The award-winning 'Men With Coconuts' are back for their second Adelaide Fringe Festival. These crazy comic Scots are bringing a brand new format based on improvised comedy and throw their many talents at it with gusto.

Each show is based on suggestions from the audience - no two shows are the same. As the guys on stage twist and turn their way through skits that change every second, they display a skill for thinking on the spot and incredible comedic timing. The opening night audience felt right at home and were in stitches from the beginning.

Will Naameh is a freestyle rapper, comedian and Scotlands only (known) half-Syrian improviser. He introduces the show and gives the uninitiated an introduction to how the improv show works. We are introduced to Charles Hindley's and Steve Worsley's expert acting and singing later in the show with great dramatic effect. Colin Bramwell is the smiling pianist in the show and has just the one facial expression, but it's an excellent facial expression. Not only is he faced with the task of backgrounding the show with improvised music, but he also makes an excellent foil for the boisterous improvisation exactly when it's needed.

It's impossible for me to describe the show further, as they will survey the audience for ideas to base their comedy on, then carry on with it in their inimitable style. You can expect to see a few different styles of skit throughout the show.

Shows like 'Men With Coconuts' make a great warm-up to a night out on the town during Adelaide Fringe Festival. You'll be amused and entertained by some genuinely original and unique moments delivered hilariously by a very talented bunch of people.

The Rhino Room is the perfect intimate old-school venue for the show and you can grab drinks at the bar before or after, maybe even have a meal at The Organik Store and Cafe on the ground floor below. You'll find the Rhino Room on Pirie Street near Hindmarsh Square.

'Men With Coconuts' is an hour-long production playing at The Rhino Room Saturday 15th Feb at 5:45 pm, Tuesday 18th Feb - Saturday 22nd Feb at 5:45 pm and Tuesday 25th Feb - Saturday 29th Feb at 5:45 pm. For those in the Adelaide Hills you can catch them at The Pocket at Stirling Fringe on Sunday 23rd Feb and Sunday 1st March at 6 pm. Tickets are just $16 - $28. You can get them here.
