I love being surprised by a great park, and I have to say this park was really surprising. is situated on Meadow Cresecent, Meadowbank. I headed here to meet a friend mostly because she doesn't drive and it was right by the train line - and I am sure glad we did!

The playground looks brand new and I think the equipment is some of the best around. The equipment is mostly made of timber which really gave the park a nice feel. The playground is surrounded by trees and with a view of Parramatta River it made for a really tranquil setting.

The playground is set over two levels with the main play equipment straddling the two sections. The kids loved climbing up to the rope tunnel and then flying down the slide.

The upper level also included a set of play equipment for the little kids and six, yes SIX, swings. There were two swings for each age group (babies, toddlers and big kids) and it was lovely for the kids to swing and look out over the water (although the baby swing looked inward to the road).

There were also seats and free BBQ's on the upper level and places to sit on the grass and keep an eye on the kids.

The lower level of the playground had a cool water pump that the kids could pump and the water flowed out and down into a 'creek'. There was also a set of climbing sticks and cicada stepping stones.

Down here you will also find more tables and BBQs.

After having a play take some time to explore the area. If you walk down the hill you will come to the War Memorial which has been very tastefully done.

After the memorial you will come to the riverfront. If you turn to the left you will come to Meadowbank Wharf - there is also a small 'beach' area here.

If you turn to the right there is a paved walkway that will take you along the river and by the mangroves. The kids had a great time exploring the riverside as we strolled along.

The park is very accessible by public transport with both the ferry and train stations in close proximity. There is also plenty of parking in both a marked car parking area and on the street.

There is a toilet block that was clean and well maintained when we were there.

The only drawback is that the playground is not enclosed and being by the water and near bushland you will need to keep a close eye on the little ones. The playground does not have a shade cover, however there are lots of trees which will hopefully provide shade in summertime.

All in all a really great place to bring the kids and family.
