Memorial Avenue is a major thoroughfare in the Noosa Shire village of Tewantin. In early February, I stayed in Noosaville and walked Memorial Avenue to Tewantin. It crosses the Noosa River at adjacent Lake Doonellla , connecting Tewantin and Noosaville. This waterfront avenue is easily accessible from Brisbane. There is an adjacent marina offering many boat cruises, including Everglades cruises possible. The bridge has a wide walkway on the Noosa River side only - suitable for many pedestrians and cyclists with views of the Noosa River at a panoramic vantage point across both the river and the adjacent Lake Doonella. Hence, the walk on Memorial Avenue from Noosaville to Tewantin is a walk that captures so much in such a short walking time.



Staying at Noosa Lakes Resort on adjacent Hilton Terrace, it is a beautiful resort to base oneself for an Everglades cruise and just to spend a few days enjoying anything from lazing by its many pools to its nearby dining options. There is a 631 bus that drops outside the resort on Hilton Terrace (the resort is searchable on the Translink website) with the 631 bus connecting Nambour Train Station.

Nearby shops include the shops around the Noosa Lakes Resort along with a popular fish market on Hilton Terrace, shops and dining at the marina as well as the Tewantin shops. The avenue itself is very busy as it is such an important thoroughfare in a growing area - hence plenty of traffic at most times of the day. Doubtless, many readers know of Noosaville but Tewantin is slightly less known but like most Noosa villages has plenty of touristy aspects and a paved street with centre street carparks like a country town which it sort of is, but so close to the busier Noosa Heads. It should be added that for aspiring to photograph a great sunrise, there is a cafe called Bean Theory which opens at 5.30AM on Hilton Terrace in the same set of shops as the Noosaville Fish Market. Bean Theory it sells cafe food, barista coffee, long life milk and a few groceries, and hence the cafe was very popular with its many patrons for a 5.30 AM visit.



I found the combination of the Noosa Lakes Resort, convenient shopping and the views of Memorial Avenue a fine way to relax and enjoy a destination that revealed a different aspect of Noosa tourism. The destination had so many advantages and was a perfect place for a perfect getaway assisted by a lovely resort to stay and enjoy the rare lakeside ambience with Noosa River's trademark greenish rippling waters, warm weather and scenic views of the boats and waterways aplenty.
