This is a park that has everything. All age groups from babies to adults are catered to. Mum can work out at the open air gym circuit while Dad gets the gas BBQ going. Even fussy teenagers can have some fun at the skate park's cement half pipe and younger kids have no less than three flying foxes to choose from. There are half basket ball courts and cricket nets and a wide playing field right next door too.
Alongside the usual playground suspects such as climbing apparatus, slides and swing sets, Melrose Park has some innovative sandstone sculptures. You can poke your head through the sandstone windows and climbing on the unusual shapes seems to be quite popular as well.
What I love about this park are the mosaics which dot the kids only bike track. They love watching the dinosaurs, fish and stars under foot as they zoom around the gently sloping pathways. Set aside a few hours to enjoy this green corner of Brisbane's suburbia.
