South Australia's iconic cycling event, the Fat Tyre Festival is back this Queen's Birthday long weekend! Registrations are now open for this annual family-friendly event held in the beautiful town of Melrose, at the base of Mount Remarkable in the southern Flinders ranges.

The Fat Tyre Festival is a jam-packed weekend of mountain biking for all ages and abilities, delicious food, live music and entertainment, interactive workshops and much more and all are welcome to join in the fun!

The festival will take place on Saturday 12 June and Sunday 13 June, with most festival-goers arriving in town on Friday night to set up camp and get ready for a full weekend of riding and fun!On Saturday 12 June at 7.30am, enjoy a range of unique experiences, including group and guided rides, skills clinics and the chance to test your skills on the trails around the town!

Then in the afternoon, it's time to wind down and enjoy community craft workshops, tantalising food from the food trucks or local pub, live music performances and DJ, a movie night and much more! Most festival-goers make a camping weekend of it, staying at one of the two large and well-appointed campgrounds:The Melrose Showgrounds is a spacious, grassy, open site with over 100 acres and plenty of flat powered and unpowered sites. There's a large new shower and toilet block and camp kitchen to cater for crowds during the festival weekend without feeling crowded. A beautiful walking and riding trail along the red-gum-lined creek will get you to town (1km). No bookings - just pay the caretaker on the way in.
