If you love honey, then you can not pass up a stop at Melita Honey Farm. With over fifty different varieties of honey, you will discover an amazing range of natural honey and learn interesting facts about honey and bees!

Located just under fifty minutes from Launceston, this delicious and interesting attraction is located in the spectacular and picturesque valleys in Tasmania and on the edge of the great Tasmanian Wilderness in Chudleigh.

This Honey Farm and Museum is the perfect place to visit, with honey tastings available throughout the day. Explore museum displays, indulge in honey ice-cream and discover the handcrafted artisan honey nougat. There is certainly something for all taste buds!

The Melita Honey Farm and Museum was opened by a Dutch family who migrated to Australia in the early 1980s and prior to moving to picturesque Tasmania, they spent fifteen years in Western Australia. They were attracted to Tasmania due to its beauty and European feel and cooler climate.

The idea to start this themed business focused on honey started with Henk, late husband and father. With his love and passion of real gourmet as well as a track record in producing fine foods, it was only fitting for this family to create masterpieces with the challenge to create new products using one of the finest Tasmanian natural resources - honey.

Today, they manufacture and sell a wide range of honey-based goodies and items including honey bee products like propolis, royal jelly, pollen, unique gift items and books. There is a showcase of old beekeeping implements, as well as an interactive beehive and live bee exhibition hive to explore.

Let your senses go wild with the abundance of creative and unique flavour combinations that will entice you. Taste the iconic Tasmania Leatherwood honey, which is harvested in some of the most remote parts of the Tasmanian rugged wilderness. If you feel like a real adventure and something to awaken the taste buds then try the Red Chilli Honey, it will no doubt awaken those senses! Or for an extra sweetness, you cannot go past trying the Honey Chocolate Paste.

If you are an ice-cream lover, you cannot pass up on indulging on one of the twelve different flavours of honey ice-cream. All ice-cream is made fresh with Tasmanian milk, cream and pure honey. Be sure to try out the signature Leatherwood honey ice-cream, which is available by the scoop.

Another treat to indulge in is the handcrafted artisan honey nougat. There are eight unique flavours to try with Tasmanian honey, roasted nuts and fine Belgian chocolate being some of the favourites.

Discover the mysteries of the honeybee with the exploration of a real beehive (behind glass of course). Watch a Queen Bee lay her eggs in the honeycomb and witness the working bees spin the precious nectar into liquid gold and if you are lucky, you may possibly even see a baby bee hatch!

Learn and discover facts about the honeybee and honey with the interactive displays and exhibits at the small museum.

You can easily get lost in this world of honey and bees and spend the whole day tasting, exploring and discovering!
