How much would you expect to pay for a decent espresso coffee (standard size) in Melbourne these days? At least $3.50, I'd have thought, ranging up to perhaps $3.80 in some places.
Coffee making is a serious business at Nuts About Coffee.
So it's a pleasant surprise to visit Nuts About Coffee, where you can get a standard espresso coffee (flat white, cafe latte etc) for a mere $3.00. And not only is it a great tasting coffee, but it's also made using fair trade organic coffee! And....the takeaway coffee is served in environmentally friendly bio-cups!
Nuts About Coffee is located just across from Blackburn Station
But wait, there's more! (No steak knives.) You also get a free biscuit with your coffee. On previous visits, the biscuit offering was a delicious nut and honey slice (tasting deliciously home-made), which was also gluten and dairy free. But on my most recent visit, I was a little disappointed to be given an Almond Roca. It was great, but not a patch on the biscuit. I hope they bring them back. But hey, that's a minor gripe, and what can one expect for $3.00?

If Nuts About Coffee was located in the CBD, there would be queues out the door. The coffee's that good. Fortunately (for its patrons anyway), it's in Blackburn, directly across from Blackburn Station. As it is, it's incredibly popular and seems to have a regular trade of happy coffee consumers. Be prepared to wait a while for your coffee.
Nuts About Coffee also offers a limited range of food (which to be honest I haven't tried). The shop also stocks a range of organic nuts, seeds, and other organic goods, including packets of the most divine dark chocolate coated popcorn I've ever tasted.
there is a cafe in moonee ponds called cafe 2000 opposite the tram stop that does a latte for 2.20 and its lovely & creamy . beat that! you can also get an all day breakfast for 9 dollars...the food is good....and its right on my door step.
